Regional Assemby of Lay Claretian Movement in Colombia

Assemblies, Colombia Region, Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation

The Regional Assembly of the Lay Claretian Movement in Colombia was held from 30 October to 2 November in the centre that the Claretian Missionaries have in “El Picacho”.

The theme that the outgoing Regional Council had chosen was: “We are all Church”. During the Assembly, the conclusions and experiences of the Delegates who took part in the General Assembly in Granada were presented together with the report by the Regional Council. There were references to the presentation of the Council in Granada, as well as a reflection on the different groups with their projects. After that, they set up new projects, challenges and lines of actions for the next two years.

With regard to formation, Father Juan Bautista gave a talk on vocation and voluntary work and Father German, director of Claret Homes, enlightened the assistants with his experience about compassion.

It is worth mentioning that the new Regional Council was elected with the following results:

  • Regional Coordinator: Luz Mery Herrera
  • Secretary of Formation: Magda Araujo, from Tumaco
  • Secretary of Economy: Yolanda Rodríguez, from Manizales
  • Secretary of Communication: Carlos Andres Manotas, from Sincelejo
  • Regional Counsellor: Brother Hernando Rivera, from Cali

The meeting was also attended by Father Javier Pulgarín, provincial superior of Colombia-Venezuela and also by a group of seminarians.

To bring the Assembly to an end, the participants had a meeting with the youth of JUCLA (Claretian Youth)  in the Botanical Garden.

These have been days of welcoming and hard work which may help the Region   to grow and strengthen in missionary ardour. Let’s thanks the outgoing council for all their effort and the newly elected for their spirit of service. We place them in the Heart of Mary, so that She may guide them.
