“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways’, declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (ISAIAH 55, 8-9)
I was a “lukewarm” catholic most of my life. I went to church, without much devotion, and took for granted that God was with me. I had a wonderful family. Everything was perfect. I used to confess. I also went for communion every Sunday and practised charity every so often.
But hardships came… My parents became ill, my eldest brother died after a five-year fight against cancer, and soon my husband died after three months in a painful agony. I couldn’t go on.
I felt lost and angry with God. I demanded an explanation and asked him with arrogance why I had to suffer so much if we were good people?
In that process God put in my way a claretian missionary who changed my life, impelled by Saint Anthony Mary Claret’s spirit. He helped me out and made me discover how wonderful the love of God was.
God guides us in our life and leads us towards his ways, which are not always our ways. It is God who calls us and we must be fully open to his will, ready to understand what He wants from us, not letting him go far away from our heart!!!.
